DIY Project Series: Lacquer Boxes

OK time for another craft project!! This one I found over at Centsational Girl if you haven't checked out her blog yet - you must! She gives step by step tutorials on a great range of projects around the home and fun craft ideas! Here is her step by step on creating these look-a like lacquer boxes.

Such a simple and inexpensive project and you can make them any color you want! Check out these from West Elm for $39!

You could get creative with the paint and do color blocks like these below inspired by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian

Or how about adding just one stripe down the middle and paint the inside - these below sell for $185 each from Napa Home!!

OR how about hot gluing something fabulous on top? Like these metal critters?

So as you can see there are so many possibilities to make your own personal lacquer boxes. What kind will you make?
